Ocean
of Sounds is always an encounter of different music
cultures: One time it is weightless, harmonic and melodious,
another time it is powerful, grounded and groovy. Each
concert is different, inspired by African, Latin-American,
Asian or European music cultures; a solo, duo or trio
with diverse musicians. Gongs, drums and percussion instruments
combined with organ, wind and stringed instruments.
Since 1995 Ocean of Sounds can be watched and listened
to in numerous concert houses, yet an outstanding experience
are the concerts in the Lukaskirche (Lukas Church), Munich.
Acoustics there allow the optimal development and expansion
of the instruments' natural oscillation.
The CD "Suara" was recorded there without any
additional electronic effects.
During the last years the following musicians - together
with me - played Ocean of Sounds: Percussionist
and pianist Cora Krötz, saxophone and didgeridoo
virtuoso Martin Seeliger, didge player Mathias Müller,
pan pipe player Diethard Herles, organ player and cantor
of the Lukaskirche (Lukas Church) Gerd Kötter, guitarist,
flautist and sound researcher Ardhi Engl as well as saxophonist
and clarinettist Ulrich Wangenheim. |
